The residences at 40 East End are designed with purpose; each is a bespoke home envisioned to enhance the lives of its residents. Deborah Berke has built her reputation on understanding the residential experience: how one lives in, moves through, and uses space, and how the implementation of good design can make a positive difference to the home experience.
The sequences from communal to private spaces within the home are thoughtfully considered, while rooms are arranged to align with access to light and to optimize expansive views. The oversized windows are designed to frame the exquisite cityscape, blurring the lines between inside and out.
The custom high-gloss lacquer painted Italian kitchen cabinetry is complemented with hand-selected Italian Arabescato Cervaiole marble slabs. Upper cabinet doors feature a unique woven metal mesh panel and bevelled trim, adding a refined pattern to the kitchen composition. The state-of-the-art appliances by Gaggenau and the substantial kitchen island are as vital to cooking as they are to entertaining.
Details – the things residents touch – are comprehensively considered as part of the whole experience. Natural white oak hardwood floors, with a herringbone pattern in the main living areas, as well as millwork casing and crown molding, create depth and character in the expansive spaces. The material language is luxurious and functionally practical. These are environments that make people feel inspired, connected, and nurtured.
The master bathroom, featuring a 6 foot soaking tub, walk-in shower and private water closet, is clad in Arabescato Cervaiole marble in a high-honed finish, complemented by fluted mirrored glass panels, custom Italian vanity and Waterworks Henry fixtures in polished nickel.
The elegant powder room is composed of port black stone slabs and millwork wainscot walls. It also features a polished nickel vanity with a white onyx countertop, Waterworks Henry faucet and hammered nickel sink.
In the secondary bathroom a custom marble mosaic floor composed of Bianco Marcchieta and Nero Marquina is elegantly framed by a Nero Marquina surround.
